ONE BOOK THAT I LIKED
Requiem por un campesino español is a novel written by Ramon J. Sender in 1953.
I read this book two years ago, because it was optional for Spanish Language in 2nd of High School, and I actually liked it. It talks about the history of Paco el del Molino, narrated by Mosén Millán, the priest that baptized him and who saw him getting older. Paco was considerated a rebel, and because of this, he was being persecuted. Mosen Millán, who was told that Paco wouldn´t die, betrayed him and told the authorities where Paco was hiding, but the authorities killed Paco. As the priest could have saved Paco, feels guilty due to his dead, what was used by the author to express the social reality that he was living.
The most important characters are:
- Mosén Millán, priest and narrator of the novel
- Paco el del Molino, main character, whose life is narrated from his birth until his death.
It´s a short book that makes you empathize with Paco and feel bad for his bad luck, at the end.
