PEAKY BLINDERS



Peaky blinders is a British crime drama created by Steven Knight. It talks about the story of the Shelby family considered to be a gangster group, who actually existed after the First World War in Birmingham. It narrates the everyday life of this ambitious family, centered on Tommy Shelby, the main character.


The main characters are :

Tommy Shelby, leader of the Peaky Blinders, interpreted by Cillian Murphy.

Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), John Shelby (Joe Cole),  Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton), brothers of Tommy and coleaders.

Polly Shelby, aunt of all of them, interpreted by Helen McCrory.

Michael Gray, son of Polly interpreted by Finn Cole.

 

This series has 5 seasons, in which you can see the evolution of the Peaky Blinders´ bussiness. They were released on 2013 (Season 1), 2014 (Season 2), 2016 (Season 3), 2017 (Season 4) and 2019 (Season 5). Season 6 was announced to be released this year but due to the actual situation led by the COVID, they had to pospone it.

 

At first they are dedicated to ilegal bets and the deceit of horses rides, what makes the family earn some money, that they will invest in the future to expand theirselves to London. This will make them get a noun in England, and many other gangster families will try to ruin their carreer in order to acquire their power. Despite this, and using the force as practice, they will increase continuosly their legacy. With the pass of the chapters, Peaky Blinders´ power is that huge that they are able to expand their bussiness to the United States, exporting and importing drugs, and earning millions of pounds.Also, Tommas Shelby, makes himself a politician who tries to fight the fascism, but from inside of a fascist party.

 

After the crack of 29, the lose a lot of money what makes some conflicts inside the family, and due to  the war traumas of Tommas and mental issues of Arthur, Michael tries to get the power of the family, which is denied by Tommas and what makes the beggining of an internal conflict. The season 5 concludes with this ending, what makes an open ending that will be determined in the incoming season.

TRAILER OF ONE OF MY FAVOURITES FILMS: SHAFT

 I´ve chosen this trailer because I saw this film, Shaft, a year ago and it´s still among my favourites films.   It mixes action with comedy that is what I liked most, having tension scenes blended with funny ones too.  Also the actors are so charismatic, what I appreciate a lot in films.
